The Conglomerate: Conglomeration and Amalgamation

  • February 9: The four remaining members of the Conglomerate – Animal Man, Fire, Guy Gardner, Ice, and Sargon the Sorcerer – arrive in Detroit, where Thomas Kord (father of Ted Kord, the Beetle) has leased the Bunker from Heywood Industries as the team's new headquarters. John Constantine, already there waiting for them, asks for Sargon's help to fight a warlock in India. Sargon agrees but has to meet with Captain Comet first. Two hours later, Guy Gardner finds a note from Sargon explaining his absence. Guy changes the portrait of the Detroit-era JLA to the current Conglomerate membership. • The Conglomerate and the Injustice League battle. Meanwhile, Maxwell Lord has four recruits now and is changing them according to a vision from a dream. Returning to his office, he is surprised to find an unknown figure sitting there. A new hero called Booster Gold arrives to help the Conglomerate defeat the Injustice League, and Ice proposes that Booster join the team. G'nort, having been set straight about the criminal intentions of the Injustice League, tags along. At a JLA meeting, Martian Manhunter displays a discussion he had with Catherine Cobert a week earlier, in which she revealed that she has copyrighted the name Justice League and plans to use Justice League International as her new team's name. Black Canary wears a gaudy new costume and black flattop wig, which Green Arrow and the other JLAers dislike. Batman and Martian Manhunter leave to visit Catherine Cobert. In Detroit, the Conglomerate inducts Booster Gold as their newest member and tell G'nort that no super-team can have more than one Green Lantern at a time. Animal Man instinctually finds Booster Gold suspicious. Booster Gold tells the team that he's from the future, he and the Blue Beetle were supposed to be a team, and the Conglomerate was supposed to have another name. Catherine Cobert arrives at the Bunker to offer the team the name of Justice League International. [“The Conglomerate: Conglomeration and Amalgamation, Chapter 3: The Injustice League”]
