  • February 6: The restored Red Tornado arrives at the JLA satellite, where he is greeted by the Martian Manhunter. Red Tornado becomes a member of the JLA once more. Meanwhile, Kathy Sutton is watching the tape featuring the JLA's battle against Despero repeatedly, watching as the Tornado Tyrant-like Red Tornado descends from the sky, exactly one month before their scheduled court date for officially adopting Traya.   • John Smith (Red Tornado) is enjoying an episode of Space Trek: The New Generation, while Kathy Sutton disapproves of the show. Investigating a scream, Red Tornado finds a man with a burn mark where skin is melting away and discovers its cause: a 13-year-old boy named Scott, whose mutant power to burn flesh was suddenly activated, hurting his friend and causing him to flee.   • That night, as John Smith and Kathy Sutton watch coverage of Red Tornado's case on the late night news, John explains that Scott's mother showed up and proved to be immune to his power, and he brought them both up to the JLA satellite, where the boy was examined and found to be a mutant. Discovering a school for mutants in Massachusetts by using Hawkman's Absorbascon, the JLAers showed up at the school, and Scott was taken in to learn to control his powers. March 6: John Smith (Red Tornado) proves that he is sentient and would make a good father for Traya, even though he is not human. John Smith and Kathy Sutton adopt Traya. [“Red Tornado: More Human Than Human, Chapter 2”]

  • March 6: At Family Court, John Smith (Red Tornado) is told he cannot adopt Traya because he is not human. John proves in court that he is sentient and would be a good father, and the court John and Kathy Sutton to adopt Traya. John explains that he used a speech from Space Trek: The New Generation to win the right to adopt, and Kathy relents on her previously negative stance on the TV show.
