At the Daily Planet building, Jimmy Olsen interviews Dan Dunbar. Nadir, the magician from 1939 on Earth-2, joins them. Dan explains that both he and his mentor, Thomas N. Thomas (TNT) stopped aging at the age of 30. He also explains that he and his mentor, as TNT and Dyna-Mite, had retired by 1968, when he was a college student and TNT was a professor. One day that year, they met the original Air Wave, and together they witnessed the arrival of Sargon the Sorcerer, who had transferred from Earth-2 in the year 1950 to Earth-1 in the year 1968 while battling a villain called Bantor. It turned out that Bantor, in turn, was possessed by a creature called Zor. The only way to stop Zor was for TNT and Dyna-Mite to each absorb part of Zor into their uniquely suited bodies, but as Zor tried to use their powers to cause explosions, Sargon used his magic to put Zor into a dormant state. Years later, whenever they were near each other, their powers would manifest as uncontrolled explosions, and Superman and Aquaman took them away to Kandor and Atlantis to ensure their separation. Shortly before Kandor was enlarged, TNT moved to Vermont and became a Dartmouth University professor, marrying a woman named Lorie. Since Lyla (Harbinger) thinks there's no danger any longer, Jimmy and Nadir take Dan Dunbar to be reunited with Thomas N. Thomas in Vermont. But when Zor manifests himself once more and threatens their lives, Jimmy signals Superman to come. Superman brings the Phantom Zone communicator and uses it to transfer Zor into the void where the Phantom Zone used to be. [“Showcase: TNT and Dynamite: Explosive Personality”]
